Using green screens and computers to produce effects is a common trend today

“These days, green screen is easy,” YouTuber Tom Scott in a documentary  about the history of some visual effects. “You get your lighting right, you point a camera at someone, and then you click a few buttons and tweak a few settings in your graphics software, and there you go. Perfect.”

But how did these fancy effects -- created by the compositing of layers of images or videos -- work before the age of computers?

In short, it was far, far more complicated, and enormously labor-intensive to boot.

A US politician has criticised Barack and Michelle Obama for allowing their children to listen to Beyoncé. Mike Huckabee, who’s a former governor, also accused the Obamas of double standards while promoting his new book to People magazine. 

He said: “I don’t understand how on one hand they can be such doting parents and so careful about the intake of everything – how much broccoli they eat and where they go to school… and yet they don’t see anything that might not be suitable in Beyoncé’s lyrics.” 

He also described Queen B’s lyrics as obnoxious and toxic mental poison. Oh, and Mike believes that Jay Z is pimp who’s exploiting his wife. Now that’s how you promote your book, right? 

CHRIS BROWN PROBATION REVOKED OVER SHOOTINGS

Chris Brown has had his probation revoked in the Rihanna case, in part because he was present at 2 separate nightclubs when people inside were shot, and officials are worried about more shootings and think Chris should serve time behind bars.

Chris showed up for a progress report Thursday, when the judge told him the probation report presented multiple problems. First, the report mentions the shooting last Sunday in San Jose when Chris was on stage. Five people were injured.  

The judge also said the probation report expressed concern over another shooting at 1OAK during VMA weekend last August. Again, Chris was on stage and several people were shot, including Suge Knight.

And the judge said Chris left the county for San Jose without getting the court's permission, which is a violation of his probation.

As for why the shootings are an issue, they were raised in the probation report. The judge noted so far there's no evidence Chris was criminally involved, but the probation officer says, "There is also concern that when he performs or attends at some of his public events, people will get shot or seriously injured."

The probation officer also notes Chris has been arrested twice while on probation -- once for assault in DC and also for throwing a rock at his mom's car in rehab. And the officer notes Chris was "making comments about knives and guns during a group [rehab] meeting."

The probation officer -- who thinks Chris is focusing too much on his career rather than community service and rehabilitation -- recommends to the judge that Chris serve time. The officer says the singer has shown "a pattern of making choices that are counterproductive."

The judge will hold a formal hearing March 20. If hizzoner determines Chris "willfully" violated probation, he could be in big trouble. The violations are felonies, which means prison is on the line.

Fliptyce signs deal with Dr Dre’s record label

Popular Nigerian producer, Fliptyce, who is responsible for making hits like ‘Chop My Money’ by Psquare including the remix with Akon is set to work with Aftermath Entertainment, owned by Dr. Dre. The music producer has signed a management deal with True Shine Entertainment owned by Orion “OP1″ Peace, an entrepreneur, rapper/record producer and social activist.
True Shine Entertainment has secured a partnership with Aftermath & Bum Rush Records. Bum Rush Records is owned Galen Graham & Sly Jordan.
Fliptyce is now on the roster of True Shine Entertainment. The signing of the deal took place at the legendary Aftermath studios were international rap stars such as Eminem, and 50 Cent have recorded.

George Lucas originally planned to make Star Wars: Episode VII

A short time from now in a parallel dimension far, far away, a George Lucas-directed Star Wars: Episode VII is getting its theatrical debut. In an interview with USA Today promoting Strange Magic, Lucas reveals that he had started to develop a new trilogy originally, "but he knew a third trilogy was a 10-year commitment at least. " Lucas had reportedly expected to release Episode VII in May 2015 before selling the company.

Of course, that's not what happened. Instead, Lucas told USA Today, Disney came along and expressed interest in buying Lucasfilm, a deal which ultimately closed October 2012. "It's better for me to get out at the beginning of a new thing and I can just remove myself," Lucas said.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Trailer

Less than three months after the first Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer was released online, Marvel fans are getting an even more action-packed sneak peek at the flick before it hits theatres this spring.

In the clip released during the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) go head-to-head in a serious of battles that leaves one actor practically being chocked. Oh dear, is right!

In addition, Iron Man also must face off against The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) in more than a few confrontations.

"No matter who wins or loses, trouble always comes around," Samuel L. Jackson proclaims in the background. Give us some popcorn already, please!

Iron Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) will all be put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance.

Kanye West Allegedly Assaults An 18-Year Old Guy In Beverly Hills

Kanye West allegedly assaulted a man who in turn insulted him and Kim Kardashian in a chiropractor's waiting room today.
While we've been accustomed to seeing the nicer and warmer side of Kanye West since his engagement with Kim Kardashian, 'Ye still has some anger pent up, and according to TMZ he took it out on a not-so-innocent bystander.
TMZ reports that Kanye spazzed out on an 18-year old guy while he waited at the chiropractor's office with Kim today. As the story goes, there were reportedly plenty of paparazzi outside the office, swarming Kim as usual, and so this young man offered to hold the door open, offering his own two cents. He reportedly said at Kim, "Fuck these fa**ot-ass n****rs," referring to the photographers.
Kim then responded that it was not appropriate to use the n-word, to which the dude apparently screamed in response, "Fuck you bitch. Just trying to help you. Shut up n****r lover, stupid slut." This, obviously, did not sit well with Kim, but she walked into the office following the the unidentified man. A short time later, Mr. West arrived.
The details are not all clear, however it appears Kim passed along what this guy said to Kanye after he arrived, and Kanye in turn punched the dude in the face while Kim said, "We have it all on tape." It was the massage therapist who apparently separated the two men, and Beverly Hills cops were called to the scene. The 18-year old said he'd like to press charges.

Report: Suicide Likely in KayO Redd Death

Redd died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police say.

The weekend death of KayO Redd was likely a suicide based on an alleged tweet from older brother Waka Flocka Flame and a TMZ report.

Investigators from the Henry County Police Department say Redd, an aspiring rapper born Coades Scott, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the Georgia subdivision where he lived on Sunday (Dec. 29) night. An autopsy is believed to have taken place yesterday.

According to celebrity blog StraightfromtheA.com, Flame confirmed the suicide, writing, "MY F-----G LIL BROTHER KILLED HISSELF," Sunday afternoon before deleting the post and leaving up a tweet asking God to "please bless me" as well as a tribute to his younger sibling.

Redd remained active on Twitter leading up to his death, sending out a final tweet promoting his Redd Kisses mixtape hours before taking his life. In an older post, he marked the two-year anniversary of fellow Brick Squad crew member Slim Dunkin's 2011 shooting death, writing, "This is not one of my favorite days of the year top 5 worst days in my life DUNK DAY is everyday Long Live Slim Dunkin #LLDunkin."

With Redd passing away, Waka and family are once again working through an emotional time. And sadly this isn't the first time momager Deb Antney has lost a child. Another son was killed in a car accident and Flame — who was a teenager at the time — faulted himself for the death, Antney said in a 2010 Vibe.com interview. "My son was killed in 2000 and Waka was like 13 years old, going on 14, and it was hard, " she recalled. "He hated everything dealing with school because my son, his death was a sneak out the house to go help a kid with his homework before his father came home so the kid wouldn't get a beating. Waka told him to go, he'll cover for him. So [when he was biking home and killed by a car] Waka blamed himself. He feels very responsible for my son's death — that's what flipped him out."

As for how Waka is dealing with this latest tragedy, the 27-year-old hasn't made any new public statements since Redd's death aside from tweeting a series of dots earlier this morning.
